As the leader in QoS Control, Operax today announced results from an independent product test and the team of partners that put the integrated solution together. RadiSys, GoAhead and Liberté are Operax partners, providing ATCA hardware, high availability middleware and integration services respectively. See www.operax.com for an executive summary of the results.
A test lab within an incumbent Telecom Operator with more than 10 million broadband lines has performed an independent evaluation of the Operax Bandwidth Manager 5500. Results grant the solution a carrier grade stamp of approval showing that performance, reliability and management aspects meet the carrier grade requirements for business critical multi-service QoS Control.
The Operax software was tested on an ATCA hardware configuration from RadiSys. To fully take advantage of the redundancy and resilience of the hardware, Operax software utilizes the GoAhead® SelfReliant® high availability middleware. Successful integration of these state-of-the art products was achieved with help from services partner Liberté.
“This shows not only the viability, but also the power, of the best-of-breed business model”, says Anders Lindén CEO of Operax. “These partners allow us to remain focused on our application value add, which is imperative to maintain our competitive edge”, continues Lindén.
“To see this success is affirmation that industry frontrunners such as Operax are realizing the benefits of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), standards-based solutions,” states Jim Ewel, GoAhead CEO. “GoAhead is pleased that Operax was able to achieve an extremely aggressive time-to-market objective and create a common high availability platform across carrier-class bandwidth management solutions by leveraging this approach,” Ewel says.
"Operax is delivering a critical application to broadband operators," says Todd Etchieson, Sr. Director, Next Generation Networks, RadiSys. "The partnership created amongst the participants and the resulting integrated application, is a prime example of what ATCA is capable of delivering."
The Operax Bandwidth Manager 5500, which is an ETSI TISPAN RACS compliant product, is in the critical path for IMS based services as well as non-IMS services such as IPTV, PSTN emulation and primary line VoIP services. When procuring RACS solutions, service providers commonly regard it as a network element in terms of requirements for performance, scalability, availability and management.
“We are happy working with RadiSys and GoAhead for our platform needs and with a competent services partner like Liberté, we always felt confident the results would be great”, says Emil Svanberg VP of Product Management at Operax.
